Why we gave Jelly a companion instead of a dashboard

When you open a mood app on a hard day, the last thing you need is a wall of graphs asking you to analyze yourself. So we did something different. Jelly greets you with a companion.

A dashboard evaluates. A companion accompanies.

Charts are useful, but as a first screen they set the wrong tone. They turn a feeling into a metric to improve. A companion changes the frame. It is not scoring you. It is sitting with you, and it responds in its own voice when you check in.

Voice makes it feel safe

You can choose a character whose tone fits you, from gentle to plainspoken. What it says is always the same underneath: you showed up, that counts, no advice, no judgment. That small acknowledgment is what makes people come back.

The data is still there, quietly

The insights, the year in pixels, the trends, all of it lives one tap away for the moments you want it. But it does not greet you. On the worst day, you get a soft hello, not a spreadsheet.

We think an app about feelings should feel like something. A companion was the most honest way to build that.
